What a day for space junkies!

.
There was a really cool lunar eclispe the night of the 20th,

.

the USN shot down a malfunctioning NRO satellite,
the Space Shuttle Atlantis from mission STS-122 landed at KSC!

.
and a meteor exploded over Oregon

.
I grew up in the 1960's & 70's watching and reading about the space race, NASA, Apollo missions and Skylab and yes I honestly expected by now that the US would have an established moonbase as well as manned missions to Mars. I also secretly hoped for my own hovercar by now. Oh well, maybe in the next 30 years.
