Hurricane Season 2005

How fitting that the people of Escambia & Santa Rosa Counties would kick of the 2005 hurricane season with the first named storm of the year. Tropical Storm Arlene is forecasted to make landfall later today with the center moving inland between Pensacola, Fl & Mobile, Al.

Tammy and I went to Wal-Mart yesterday around 4:00pm to get our normal weekly groceries and were surprised at the empty shelves. People had already cleared out the typical hurricane purchases. e.g bottled water, peanut butter, tuna, bread, flashlights & batteries.

The one aspect that keeps popping up in my mind is that there are so many "blue roofs" still visible in the area and numerous families still living in their FEMA trailor. So much unrepaired damage from Ivan. From a mass physchology point of view this hurricane season should be interesting.

Surfs Up at Pensacola Beach!
