Saturday June 9th turned into quite a rain event for the Escambia / Santa Rosa County area. Reports concerning yesterday's rain are reporting over 13 inches of rainfall making it the second highest daily rainfall recorded. The highest was recorded on Oct 5th, 1934 when over 15 inches fell. By my best estimate based upon the rain guages in our yard we received 8-10 inches of rain Saturday. Tammy's school OBE had some flooding as did a few of our neighbors homes. We ended up with about 4 inches in the garage but we still had another 8 inches or so before our home would have started to flood.

Yesterday Tammy and I reflected on just how many of these significant rain events we have lived through over the years and just how helpless one can feel as you see the water rising and know there are several hours of rain yet to come.
