Lazy Weekend

In essentials unity,
In doubtful things liberty,
But in all things love.
---St Augustine

Enjoyed a fairly relaxing day around the house. Got to watch the LSU Tigers mens basketball team win against Kentucky in a fairly exciting game that wasn't decided until literally the last second.

Amanda & Ashley will meet today with the 17 other First City Church members headed to Ecuador again this summer to work for a week at the Hacienda of Hope. I am so greatful that they both have been blessed with this opportunity again.

See Dick Shoot

"It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you." Vice-President Cheney

I was intrigued to see the web site The Smoking Gun carry the Texas Park & Wildlife hunting accident form for Vice President Cheney's most unfortunate hunting accident. I know the mainstream media and late night talk show hosts will have a field day with this issue. One would hope that they would focus on the dangers of hunting and the requirement for proper procedures and communication while hunting. I can only imagine the range of feelings Vice President Cheney is experiencing after shooting a friend.

I pray that Mr. Whittington will be blessed with a quick recovery.

Keep Sowing Ideas

"Ideas precede reform. If you can't think it, you can't say it and you can't do it." Newt Gingrich

As I was reading an article about Newt Gingrich, yes I actually enjoying reading his opinion on many issues, when I came across this quote by him. As I thought about the above quote more and more I started shifting towards a more spiritual perspective.

If one does not have an idea that God exists....
it would be very hard to think that God exists....
so you would never say that God exists....
so your life would never be lived out like God exists.

It starts with each individual mind having the idea that God exists.

When we interact with people and reflect Gods love we are helping others to have an idea that God exists.

Cartoons, Riots, Violence & Love?

"People do not like to think. If one thinks, one must reach conclusions. Conclusions are not always pleasant."

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has benn opened for us." - Hellen Keller

As I continue to watch and read about the reaction by the muslim world to several cartoons posted by a Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, I am almost speechless. All I can think is that a cross in a jar of urine is art and must be tolerated but charicatures of allah are a legitimate reason for world rioting.................

Regional District Finals (aka the fog bowl)

Friday night in Dolphin stadium the lady Dolphins (25-2-1) hosted arch rivals BT Washington (20-4-3) in the 4A Regional Finals match. It was a really awesome soccer match with the fog was so heavy at times you could not see across the field and see the other team on the bench. Both teams played hard and the game lived up to its hype by the local news media.

So...
1st Half
29:30 Dolphins score (1-0)

2nd Half
3:50 Washington score (1-1)
14:10 Dolphins score (2-1)
36:30 Washington score (2-2)
37:10 Washington score (2-3)
39:40 Dolphins score (3-3)

1st 10min Sudden Death Overtime
5:30 Washington scores (4-3)

Washington wins!

There are some photos on the local papers web site that show just how bad the fog was.
