Saturday Match

Todays match against Barron Collier ws pretty interesting. for 75 minutes there was no scoring. In the last 5 minutes GBHS scored 3 goals all by freshman. The team moved the ball well against Barron Collier and our defense was outstanding. After the match we grabed a bite to eat then hit the road home. All in all a good weekend for the girls. Playing good caliber teams like Lake Mary and Barron Collier is what this team needs. They need to be challeged and play teams that are as goods or better. Tuesday night the regular season opens with Tate HS.

We the People....

"The American Constitution is the greatest governing document, and at some 7,000 words, just about the shortest." Stephen Ambrose

"The Constitution only guarantees the America people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself." Benjamin Franklin

At some point today it was estimated on a U.S. Census Bureau website that the population of the United States of America exceeded 300 Million people. The U.S. Census Bureau also has a population clock that estimates the world population at over 6 Billion people. So if my math is correct the U.S. accounts for approx 5% of the worlds population. This is significant since the majority of the total world population does not have any firsthand knowledge or experience with the America experience. As you go about your day in the United States of America remember how unique and special your experience is. 95 % of the worlds population can only dream & imagine what we take for granted each and every day. Blessings so easily overlooked such as a stable government, a stable food supply, a safe water source, an effective healthcare network and a constitution establish for all the people of the United States.

We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish the Constitution for the United States of America........

An American View?

"We cannot defend fredom abroad by deserting it at home." - Edward R. Murrow

In the drawing above there are 21 countries outlined. Take a moment and see how many you can name.

Each of these countries is playing an important part in our nations current events and I wonder how many Americans can even name these countries much less speak to their culture, history, religion or politics. Is it reasonable to expect that our American values of life, liberty, justice and freedom will be embraced by these nations? What about Democracy? Is it reasonable to expect a group of people who have for all intents and purposes never experienced these freedoms to embrace them overnight? Social changes are generational in nature and we only need look to our own short history to see that. The end of slavery and the civil rights movement were aftershocks of our own American revolution.

If we cannot identify where countries are can we expect to know anything about their people?

The Speed of Life

"Here is the test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished: if you're alive, it isn't." - Richard Bach

"Every person, all the events of your life are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you." - Richard Bach

C H O I C E S
The past several weeks have really been a blur for me. It seems like every facet of my life including most people I know are facing changes and going through significant struggles and challenges. As I look around me I see very few situations that seem to be stabilizing from my perspective. One bright spot around me is my father. He has struggled for some time with back problems and was facing the possibility of major surgery. One evening he watched a commercial for a local chiropractor and choose pursue this approach to pain relief. Three weeks after seeing a local chiropractor who used the cox technique my dad is sleeping better, standing straighter and is having less pain. I am glad he choose to pursue what in some peoples opinion might have been an unconventional medical approach.
