Note: The two quotes above are from two writers whose books I discovered in junior high. One a scientist/engineer and the other a pilot/writer/philosopher. Both mens writings had a profound influence on me which carries on to this day.

Empty

"But by the grace of God I am what I am,
and his grace to me was not without effect."
1 Corn 15:10
.
.
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " T
hen they remembered his words.
Luke 24:1-8
.
Consider..........
.
Do I believe the tomb was empty?
.
Am I living like I believe the tomb was empty?

Passion Week

As Easter approaches many are drawn to the celebration of Christs resurrection. As I was reading parts of the four gospels I was struck again by the events of the week leading up to Christs crucifixion.

Friday - Jesus arrived in Bethany where Lazarus lived. Mary washes Jesus' feet.
"Leave her alone," Jesus replied. "It was intended,
that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial."
John 12: 7
.
Saturday - Sabbath
.
Sunday - Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem on a donkey.
"Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!
Hosanna in the highest!"
Mark 11:9-10
.
Monday - Jesus drives the money changers out of the temple and overturns their tables
"Is it not written 'My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations'
but you have made it 'a den of robbers'.
Mark 11:17
.
Tuesday - Jesus taught using parables and debated teachers of the law.
"The most important one," answered Jesus. "Is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these."
Mark 12:29-31
.
Wednesday - No events recorded in the gospels.
.
Thursday - Passover, the Last Supper. Jesus prays in Gethsemane.
"Abba, Father." he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."
MArk 14:36
.
Friday - Crucifixion following Jesus' betrayal, arrest, desertion, beatings, scouraging & mocking.
"Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
Luke 23:34
.
Saturday - Sabbath
.
Sunday - Resurrection, women followers discover the empty tomb.
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation."
Mark 16:15
