Monday AM Hi

My 60 minutes commute was a welcomed change from the driving I did Saturday coming back from Dallas, Tx. Between Mesquite and Longview, Tx I saw an 18-wheeler on its side on the I-20 West bound lane as well as 6 other private vehilces that had slid off the rode and ended up in the median or the ditch. Emergency vehicles were present at 4 of the sites. It blows me away how people do not adjust their driving styles when inclement weather is around. I also saw 2 vehicles between Shreveport and Alexandria, La along I-49 which had slid off the rode.

Spring Classic Rained Out

We found out yesterday around 1100 that tournament organizers cancelled the remaining matches due to inclement weather. Smart on their part given that no matches would be played Saturday. Amanda and I hit the road around 1200 headed for Baton Rouge, LA.

Rain Delay in Plano, TX

Woke up this morning around 0600 for our 0800 match and was greeted with a major thurnderstorm rolling through the area. Our match has been delayed until 1200. Hopefully we will be able to get one more match in. www.wunderground.com showed the regional radar data and it doesn't look to good for the rest of the morning.

Time will tell.

Spring Classic Game 2

D'Feeters 6 - PFC LAdy Wolves 1

We got rocked! The D'Feeters have to be the best skilled, fastest, position playing, fast transition team we have faced. We held them to a 2-0 lead at the half and within 15 minutes of the start of the second half it was 5-0.

Amanda had a long match. 6-saves and 7-touches. She went 1-v-1 numerous times and played fairly hard.

Enough said.

Spring Classic Game 1

PFC Lady Wolves 1 - Jornado Sharks 0

The Lady Wolves secured a win during their first match at Spring Classic 2005, http://www.springclassic.org/ against a pretty good team from Los Cruces, NM. The match was tied 0-0 at the half and with less than 2 minutes remaining a defender for the Sharks got called for handling in the box and PFC was awarded a penalty kick which was promptly put low and right into the net by Catlin. A flurry of activity and the match ended.

Amanda played very well and secured the shutout with 5-saves and 5-touches.

I hope the Lady Wolves are just as ready at 4pm for their second match.

Texas Bound

Amanda & I departed Gulf Breeze Wednesday night around 6:30pm and headed for Baton Rouge, La. We spent the night with family and Thursday morning we headed out for Plano, Tx. We departed at 0930 and Amanda drove to Alexandria, La. I drove to Canton, Tx and then Amanda drove to our hotel in Plano, Tx. Yes, my 16 year old daughter drove through Dallas, Tx during rush hour for the first time. She did great.

Tomorrow morning her soccer team plays their first game in the Spring Classic tournament.

Saturday AM Hi

It looks like it is going to be a pretty nice day today. There has been so much activity around the house the past several weeks that I am hoping today will let me get some catch-up work accomplished. We have had our carpet removed and "wood" floors installed throughout the house, we are having 2 of our bathrooms tiled, we had to have the entire house replumbed due to several broken pipes under the slab ($ ouch), a new vainty installed in the master bathroom, we had a new front door installed and I painted the majority of the interior of the house. As with any project what is left to finish is the small stuff, puttying small holes, touchup painting, cleanup, move furniture back into the house, but some new furniture, etc. Oh well, 0700, time to start.

Water Problems Round #2 !

Well, after troubleshooting, having a leak detection company come out and the plumber who repaired our ruptured pipe in January the consensus is I have 2 more pipes under my slab that have failed. Tammy & I are now faced with the choice of having the floor opened up and those pipes repaired replumbing the entire house. Yikes! I can gamble and repair 2 pipes or fix the problem once and for all by having the house replumbed. A delta of 3-4K. On the bright side my insurance company is telling me that they will not cover the cost since there was NO WATER INTRUSION into the house. So much for catching a problem early on.
