2013 Is Upon Us

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other. - Abraham Lincoln

Back in January of 2010 I posted about an Andy Stanley podcast titled "A New You Resolution" in which he talked about resolutions.  He said and I am paraphrasing "For your New Years Resolutions don't make a list of things "to do" but make a list of things you want "to be".   I was remind of this concept earlier in the week when I was listening to an updated version of that same podcast.

A New You Resolution an Andy Stanley Leadership Series Podcast
...
During the podcast he talks about an exercise that individuals can benefit from which involves asking your self the following question.
...
At your funeral what would you like (insert person)  to say about you?
Your spouse?
Your children?
Your parents?
Your siblings?
Your In-Laws?
Your friends?
Your co-workers?
etc
...
Once you have answered what you would like people to say about you ask yourself why?  For example, why is it important to you that your spouse says your were trustworthy?  Lastly ask yourself what is a stake in my relationship if I am not what I want to be for example, "trustworthy"?  It is an interesting exercise to work through.  In the process of answering this single questions specifically for each person you list you may find out something about yourself and what really matters to you.
