The Girls of Spring

"A catcher must want to catch. He must make up his mind that it isn't the terrible job it is painted, and that he isn't going to say every day, 'Why, oh why with so many other positions in baseball did I take up this one.'" - Bill Dickey

Got to watch my niece play tonight down at GBSA. I really enjoy watching kids play sports.

The Boys of Spring

"Baseball is a game where a curve is an optical illusion, a screwball can be a pitch or a person, stealing is legal and you can spit anywhere you like except in the umpire's eye or on the ball. "
James Patrick Murray

I had the pleasure of watching my nephew play baseball tonight at Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze. I really do enjoy watching kids play sports and I enjoyed taking a few pictures with my new Canon EOS Rebel T1i. I also enjoyed looking at some pictures a friend of mine took with my camera. Thanks Cal!

Spring Thoughts

"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." - Albert Einstein
...
As Spring weather breaks the grip of winter and all of creation comes alive as evidenced by the warming temperatures, budding flowers, shrubs, trees and migrating birds it is quite easy to shift our focus from the birth, death and resurrection of Christ to our own pursuits.
...
I find it interesting that when you read the first few verses of the book of Acts you read where Jesus after rising from the grave returned to His disciples and began to teach them.

"In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God."
- Acts 1:1-3
...
I think that the forty days following Easter Sunday can be a very good reminder to all of Christs followers that teaching, instruction and spiritual growth are not to be overlooked or neglected. I encourage you to consider the following questions.
...
Who is teaching (discipling) you today, this week, this month?
...
Who are you teaching (discipling) today, this week, this month?
...
If you are uncertain, unhappy or unconcerned about your answer to either of the questions above I would strongly encourage you to spend some time in prayer and meditation seeking guidance for your growth and for those you can help grow.

He has risen!

"Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime." - Martin Luther
...
....
"When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' " Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid."
